Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake

For more than 60 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As Maryland’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, they make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in your local community.

Habitat for Humanity Choptank

Through financial coaching, education and support, and access to affordable financing, Habitat Choptank provides an opportunity for individuals and families in our communities to purchase a quality construction, energy efficient, affordable home. Home ownership with Habitat Choptank creates a solid foundation for our hardworking neighbors to build their lives on.

The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce

In business since 1921, The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce is the communities oldest, largest and most effective business advocate. Our over 500 members represent all sectors of activity in the heart of Chesapeake Country. From the land, water, warehouse, or factory floor; from the retail store or restaurant; from the gallery, museum or local not for profit members have united under the umbrella of the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce with a common goal – “To Advance Dorchester County through educating, promoting and growing a strong business community”.

Baywater Animal Rescue

Baywater Animal Rescue, a No Kill humane organization, is dedicated to the principle that every animal deserves to live. By working with people, implementing life-saving programs, and treating each life as precious, we have created an organization that positively effects the lives of countless animals and the people that care about them.

Maryland Summer Center for Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem Research - Horn Point Laboratory

The Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) is an environmental research facility of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) the principal institution for advanced environmental research and graduate studies within the University System of Maryland. The Horn Point Laboratory’s Environmental Science Education Center is the location of many programs offered to students and teachers by the Maryland Department of Education and non-profits with environmental missions. The Honeywell Corporation supports two of these programs. These science-based programs connect adults and children to the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay and issues related to natural resource sustainability and the people-land-water connection.
